STAR WARS A NEW HOPEJoe Johnston Pencil Sketch

A rare unique pencil drawing by legendary pre-production Star Wars illustrator (and now Director) Joe Johnston, rendered during the production of the first Star Wars Film in 1975-76. The original pencil drawing was rendered on a letterbox cut piece of vellum paper. And depicts the interior perspective from a Imperial Tie-Fighter as it sets its sights on the rear of an X-Wing Fighter, pursuing it in the Deathstar trench from the climax of the Film. The condition of the piece does show some aging and handling. It was literally discarded by Johnston during Filming as he was envisioning and rendering the Deathstar Trench sequence, as it would be seen in the Film. The piece was originally acquired from original Star Wars / ILM crew member Doug Barnett, who is credited in the Film. Several copies of original ILM paperwork from Doug Barnett's tenure at ILM in 1975-76 accompany the piece. The piece is also accompanied by a hand-signed LOA on original Museum of Science Fiction & Fantasy letterhead, as well as a hand-signed COA and Original Museum Exhibit program Booklet from 1995. All Presented in a black Presentation Portfolio. Note: The Art is shown in the images behind an acid-proof Mylar sleeve, placed against an acid-proof cardstock backing. It is NOT glued to the backing or the sleeve and can be easily removed and examined and matted and framed.
