FLASH GORDON (1980)

From the classic cult 1980 science fiction movie starring Sam J. Jones as Flash Gordon comes this rare, likely unique, production photo album containing costume concept design images and behind the scenes images.T

he period photo album features a hand written label to the cover and hand written notes to the flyleaf, to include the text 'Designs rejected by Dino De Laurentiis Snr'. This lends itself to the assumption that this book was originally utilised to show the film's Producer proposed costume designs, etc., during pre-production of the movie.

The album contains three different behind the scenes black and white images featuring the Ming Royal Guards together with fifteen different proposed costume design images for principal characters, to include Flash Gordon, Ming, Princess Aura, Prince Barin, Vultan, etc. The costume designs are by well known Costume Designers of the period Willa Kim and Jean Pierce Dorleac, some are print dated 1978.

A fantastic unique and historically important insight in to the early production process of this cult classic.
