SMALL SOLDIERS (1996)
From the Joe Dante 1996 movie comes this hero 'Gwendy' cable operated special effects doll.
The 'Gwendy' dolls are converted by the 'Commando Elite', headed by 'Chip Hazzard', as back up for their war plan and feature in some of the most highly memorable sequences in the movie. This particular prop 'Gwendy' character appears to be one of the principal 'Gwendy' dolls used for the film and can be clearly identified due to the safety pin slotted through her head. It features in multiple shots, with and without different household weapons attached to it's arm, to include being the very first 'Gwendy' doll discovered by Kirsten Dunst's leading character, 'Christy Fimple'.
The legendary Stan Winston Studios created the 'Gwendy' dolls for the movie. As such it will come as no surprise that the prop is beautifully constructed to the very highest standard with incredible attention to detail. The character would have originally been cable and rod operated and cables are still present to the rear of the figure. The body is constructed of a resin material with metal feature detailing and hand painted suitably military themed underwear. The head is of a silicone material allowing for better facial expression movement with positionable eyes, a clear indication that this particular 'Gwendy' was made for principal close up photography.
Presented on a museum quality bespoke made display which provides a secure metal support for the figure and neat base concealment of protruding cables. Completing the presentation is a switch activated light up 'Small Soldiers' film title logo to the front of the circular base.A stunning piece of cinema history which could be the centre piece of any collection.
