DOCTOR WHO (1985)Varne the Cryon (Sarah Greene)

From the 1985 story 'Attack of the Cybermen', starring Colin Baker as the Doctor, comes this fantastic prominently featured alien, 'Varne', one of the 'Cryon' race, portrayed by Sarah Greene.Subsequent to filming, the costume was formerly on display at the official BBC Exhibition in Blackpool, England, and is presented today as it was then.The impressive complete costume comprises of a translucent full head mask and twin layer neck ring , a white under suit, a white bodysuit, a wide plastic belt and a long patterned cloak (more likely actually intended for use with 'Flast' the 'Cryon'). All displayed on the original BBC Exhibition mannequin. The costume retains the original BBC wardrobe interior label detailing production and actress name.Of added note is the fact that Sarah Greene was a popular television presenter in her own right in the 1980's, best known for 'Blue Peter' and 'Going Live'.The impressive costume has survived very well and only exhibits slight signs of age. Complete alien/monster character costumes such as this are very difficult to source from the iconic Doctor Who Television Series, the world's longest running science fiction television series. A truly wonderful and important piece of Doctor Who history.
